Vitamin B6 Soup

Why shouldn’t I have a blog? Every college graduate and their mother has one nowadays, and I’m feeling just as self-indulgent. Twitter, however, is where I draw the line.

I made a hearty fall soup with my pal Melissa last night. I’m not one for precision in recipes – I like to use the best elements in a handful of similar recipes for maximum potential. So anyways, we improved a watery version of Carrot Ginger Soup Melissa made the previous night, and here is the approximate recipe:

1 lb. carrots, chopped
2 medium sweet potatoes, chopped
4 Tbsp fresh ginger
3 cloves garlic
4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
Small container plain yogurt
Salt, to taste
1 tsp basil
Cilantro leaves

Cook the chopped carrots and potatoes in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain and food process small portions until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Garnish with cilantro if you like. We each had a bowl with a dollop of sour cream, and enjoyed vivid dreams because of the high concentration of Vitamin B6. So neat! My supplement-happy sister had suggested I try B6 this past summer, but I forgot all about it until now.

Speaking of family, how cute is mine?!

I’m headed to Brooklyn this weekend for some awesome CMJ events. I’ll be seeing Camilla for the first time in 4+ months, and probably other Bardians as well! Stay tuned for a recap and more scintillating blogging (hint: Halloween costumes, my 1st garden in review, pictures from Chicago).
